After the Corona pandemic, RV manufacturers were almost sold out. The trend is continuing after the pandemic. However, another segment is weakening.
Even after the Corona pandemic, mobile homes remain in demand. In the first half of the year, 45,344 vehicles were newly registered, according to the industry association CIVD in Frankfurt. That was 9.3 percent more than in the same period last year and only around 7 percent less than in the record year of 2021.
At that time, a particularly large number of people had bought motorhomes for outdoor holidays under the impression of the strict contact restrictions. The strong demand, combined with supply chain problems, led to empty warehouses and high prices. The range has now expanded significantly, reports the association. Larger models are increasingly in demand.
On the other hand, the classic caravan, with 12,549 newly registered units in the first half of the year, saw demand fall by 2 percent compared to last year. The record sales figures from the Corona period are a long way off.
