The level of private employment grew by 0.4% in November and added its fifth consecutive advance

The branches of activity that showed the greatest monthly dynamism:

  • Hotels and restaurants 1.9%
  • ‍ Construction 1.3%
  • ‍ Mining and quarrying 0.6%
  • ‍ Trade and repairs 0.3%
  • ‍ Education 0.3%

The employment rate (the relationship between employment and the total population) presents the highest value since 2013. While the number of employed women increased by 16.4% and among men the employment growth was 14.5%, indicated Diego Schleser, undersecretary of Studies and Statistics.

Like last month, the expansion of employment was observed both in the Greater Buenos Aires agglomerate and in the group of agglomerates in the interior of the country. In GBA the growth rate of last month is maintained, while in the average of the interior agglomerates, the increase in November is greater than that of October (0.6% vs. 0.3%).

According to the report, the recovery of the economy, in a context where vaccination among the population is advancing, is allowing for a significant and sustained improvement in labor indicators.

This behavior reflects the impact of the implementation of economic, labor and social policies that put work at the center of the measures adopted and that have been carried out even during the pandemic.

Furthermore, the results in terms of the expansion of registered salaried employment extend to other occupational categories, which also reaffirm the context of recovery of working conditions. In this sense, according to the information released by the Permanent Household Survey (EPH), in the third quarter of 2021 There is the presence of the largest number of employed people in the total urban agglomerates since 2003, and the employment rate has the highest value since 2013.

During October 2021, the growth in registered employment of the staff of private homes stands out, surely favored by the recent implementation of the REGISTRADAS program, which aims to promote the formalization of the sector.

Finally, the virtuous character that the behavior of the Argentine labor market assumes in this stage can be appreciated, not only by the growth that employment shows in its various manifestations, but also by the significant reduction in the unemployment rate in the third quarter of the year.

Indeed, the unemployment rate is the lowest of the third quarters surveyed between 2016 and 2019, but the most important thing is that the drop in the unemployment rate was achieved in an environment of growth in the population’s participation in the labor market (higher activity rate).

The information collected by the Labor Indicators Survey (EIL) for the month of November 2021, in companies with more than 10 employed persons located in 12 urban centers, shows a monthly growth of 0.4% in the level of employment registered wage earner in the private sector.

This monthly variation shows an acceleration in the expansion of formal employment, within a framework of five consecutive months of growth. We must go back to 2013 to find, in the comparison of the months of November in recent years, a monthly increase in employment of the same magnitude as that verified today.

The growth in employment is consistent with the greater dynamism observed in the labor market. Both the hiring and termination rates of personnel are higher than in the pre-pandemic months, reaching levels similar to those of 2016 and 2017.
