Olympics are a big move: Over the next two weeks, this will not only affect local athletes, but also companies based or with roots in Upper Austria. What they all have in common is that they hope the Olympics will provide a boost for their daily business.

  • Baking powder: Kornspitz instead of croissant: That is Backaldrin’s motto at the Olympics. The baking agent manufacturer from Asten supplies the Austria House in Paris with bread, pastries and sweets. “In total, we expect up to 100,000 pieces of pastries, two to four tons of bread and up to 400 apple strudels a day,” says master baker Günter Koxeder. A semi-trailer brought the bakery required for this to the French capital. “We know how important bread is in the athletes’ diets,” says Wolfgang Mayer, a member of the Backaldrin management team. The group’s 1,000 employees generate more than 200 million euros in sales.
