A public hearing is called to debate wholesale gas prices

Those interested in participating may register until Wednesday 26th through the registration form available at https://www.argentina.gob.ar/economia/energia.

The national State currently takes responsibility for part of the monthly price of natural gas in the wholesale portion of the supply (that is, at the Point of Entry to the Transportation System –PIST-).

Said value is determined through the process of awarding prices and volumes of natural gas carried out by the Ministry of Energy to the providers of the gas distribution service through networks, which prior to 2002 was the result of free negotiation between producers and distributors.

In the last November award of the Gas.ar Plan for 3 million cubic meters from Vaca Muerta for the period 2022 to 2024, the firm Pampa Energía will obtain 2 million cubic meters per day at a price of US $ 3,347 per MMbtu; Pluspetrol will have assigned 0.3 million cubic meters per day at US $ 3,594; and Tecpetrol will correspond to 0.7 million per day at US $ 3,618.

The subsidy or margin that the State takes in said portion of the transportation (which represents approximately 40% of the user’s bill) allows reducing the cost of gas in the retail portion.

The call is given within the framework of the Plan for the Promotion of the Production of Argentine Natural Gas-Supply and Demand Scheme 2020-2024 (known as Plan Gas.Ar), which seeks to supply local demand with nationally produced natural gas, replacing imported and more expensive sources of that fluid.

This new hearing is added to the one that the National Gas Regulatory Entity (Enargas) will hold, also virtually, on January 19 at 9, when the transitory adjustment of the public gas transportation service rate will be considered. natural gas distribution and public service through networks.

As indicated by the Secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, the rate correction in gas and electricity bills will be 20% for most users in 2022.
