Trust and work-life balance as weak points in the home office

Trust and work-life balance as weak points in the home office

That is a key statement of the PwC study “Future of Work and Skills”, for which around 4,000 executives and HR managers from 26 countries and 28 industries were surveyed. According to this, 57 percent of those surveyed perceived an improvement in employee performance and the achievement of productivity goals in the past twelve months. Only four percent report deterioration. However, around three quarters of those surveyed do not believe that the current workload of their employees enables a good work-life balance. In addition, only 31 percent are certain that there is a high level of trust between employees who work from home and their superiors.

According to Nicole Prreicher, partner at PwC Austria, any mistrust of employees and cultural barriers towards new forms of work should not be underestimated. In order to meet the expectations of the workforce, an integrative management style is required.

Challenging technology

The digitization of business processes is still a major concern. But only 21 percent of managers believe they can recognize and assess potential risks. And only a quarter are even able to determine the necessary technical qualifications. And only 25 percent of those surveyed said they would clearly inform employees and other stakeholders about the impact of new technologies.
