In the baseline scenario, by the summer the key rate will become double-digit – 10.5%, Director General of the National Rating Agency Alina Rozentsvet said in an interview with Izvestia.
“The Central Bank, acting proactively, at its last meeting on December 17, not only raised the rate, but also gave a signal to the market that it is not yet considering the issue of keeping it, let alone lowering it. According to the baseline forecast of the NRA, at the beginning of the year the Bank of Russia will have to tighten the anti-inflationary nuts several more times and increase the key one by an average of 50 bp. In the base case, by the summer the key rate will become double-digit – 10.5%, ”she said.
However, Alina Rozentsvet expects that there will still be a chance not to cross the psychologically important mark of 10%. In 2021, the Central Bank raised its key rate from 4.25% to 8.5% due to accelerated inflation.
