Security measures of the 100 dollar bill
These are the security measures to avoid receiving a fake $100 bill
The most visible measure is the 3-D blue safety stripewhich runs from top to bottom of the bill on the right side of Franklin’s portrait. There is also a bell in the inkwell located just to the lower right of this security stripe and both change color when the bill is tilted.
On the other hand, there is a watermark where you can see Franklin’s portrait against the light on the right side of the bill. And one of the less visible features is the security thread printed with the letters USA and the number 100 and can be seen on both sides of the bill. This thread appears bright pink when exposed to ultraviolet light.
At the back, the Number 100 on the right changes color when tilting the bill, from copper to green. Then there are microprint details that can be seen by paying close attention or using a magnifying glass. These are the words THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, on the collar of Benjamin Franklin’s jacket, the word USA and the number 100 around the white space where the watermark is visible.
Finally, there is a tactile security measure that is the relief printing. When you run your finger over it, the bill should feel rough.
