The United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) The US Treasury Department is the agency responsible for issuing dollar bills in the United States. In response to the possibility of fraud, it issued a statement announcing the security measures for the $50 bill.
It is necessary to remember that there are 3 different banknotes in circulation that are still validThe oldest one was issued between 1990 and 1997, the second one from 1997 to 2004 and the current one, from 2004 to date. Each one has small differences, and therefore, different security measures that we will detail below.

These are the security measures of the different denominations of the 50 dollar bills
First, let’s detail the security measures for verifying the $50 bill issued since 1990, and then continue with the following ones.
$50 bill issued between 1990 and 1997
The first safety measure is the ink color on number 50 on the lower right of the front of the billThe special ink changes color depending on the focus, so when you move the bill it goes from copper to green. In the same place, against the light, you can see a watermark with the portrait of Ulysses S. Grant, who appears on the front.
Also, to the right of the portrait, is the safety tape, which can be seen when tilting the bill, is gold in color and shows the initials USA and the number 50 in microprint details. Another characteristic is the relief in the printing; when you run your finger over the bill, it should feel slightly rough.
Finally there are the remaining ones microprinting details. In different places on the bill, the initials USA and the number 50 can be seen with the use of a magnifying glass or by focusing special attention and looking closely at the bill. Also, on Gran’s neck in the portrait, the phrase UNITED STATES OF AMERICA can be read.
$50 bill issued between 1997 and 2004
This bill has certain differences from the previous one. For example, the portrait is a little bigger, as is the oval it is inside. The numbers on the ends of the front are a little bigger, and above the stamp on the right of the portrait, the phrase THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA can be read in large, easy-to-read form. On the other hand, below the portrait, there is the phrase FIFTY DOLLARS, and the one that said THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA was removed.
But the security measures are exactly the same.
$50 bill issued from 2004 to present
The $50 bill issued after 2004 is the one with the most design differences from the previous ones. The portrait on the front appears free, not inside an oval. The stamp on the right has a slight red ink print on its background, something new for these copies. The stamp on the left has a duller color, similar to black and not so much the original green. And the security measures, like the previous one, are exactly the same as on the first $50 bill.
