Following a series of increases, the salaries of construction workers who are under a collective agreement will not change compared to the previous month.

In September, construction workers under contract will receive the same salary as the previous monthwhile they wait for the Construction Workers Union of the Argentine Republic (UOCRA) to obtain new increases from negotiations with business chambers.

For the moment, the union that represents the sector’s employees has not announced new adjustments for salaries corresponding to August, which will be paid next month. This occurs while Consulting firms and financial institutions predict inflation for the current month similar to that of July, around 4%according to the latest Market Expectations Survey (REM) from the Central Bank (BCRA).

It is worth remembering that the UOCRA had closed a three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Argentine Chamber of Construction (CAMARCO) and the Argentine Federation of Construction Entities (FAEC), which included increases of 14% in April, 11% in May and 11% in June, to which was added an additional 11% in July.

Construction was one of the sectors hardest hit by the recession, This has seen nine consecutive months of falling employment, making it the sector that has lost the most jobs. However, the latest SIPA data reflect a slowdown in the contraction of employment.

By the middle of this month, the union was expected to begin new negotiations. to define additional adjustments. While awaiting further developments in this regard, the salary scales for construction workers remain as follows:

Salaries vary depending on the work area, taking into account factors such as climate. The areas are classified as follows:

Zone A: Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA), Province of Buenos Aires, Santiago del Estero, Santa Fe, Mendoza, San Juan, Catamarca, Cordoba, Entre Rios, Salta, Tucuman, Chaco, La Pampa, San Luis, Corrientes, La Rioja, Formosa, Jujuy and Misiones.

  • Zone B: Neuquen, Rio Negro and Chubut.
  • Zone C: Santa Cruz.
  • Southern Zone C: Land of Fire.
