Change of leadership: Former Opel boss Lohscheller heads carmaker Polestar

Change at the Swedish electric car provider Polestar: The former Opel boss is to take over the management in the future. The company wants to expand its position on the international market with him.

The luxury electric car manufacturer Polestar is getting a new boss. The German Michael Lohscheller will take over the position on October 1, the Swedish-Chinese company announced. Lohscheller had previously been CEO of Opel, the Vietnamese car manufacturer Vinfast and the US truck manufacturer Nikola. The previous boss Thomas Ingenlath, who had led the brand for the past seven years since its founding, is stepping down.

Lohscheller brings with him “extensive expertise in the automotive industry,” the statement said. The company plans to expand its global presence under his leadership. “I am honored to join Polestar at such an exciting time in the company’s history,” Lohscheller was quoted as saying. Polestar has established itself as “one of the most sought-after and innovative brands in the field of electric vehicles.” He is looking forward to accelerating this development through joint work.

Ingenlath thanked the company’s employees: “It was an experience of a lifetime to build this brand with all of you.” He wished Lohscheller all the best “for the next chapters of Polestar.”

Polestar belongs to the Chinese Geely Group and its Swedish subsidiary Volvo. The company, founded in 2017, focuses on the premium business and says it offers its vehicles in 27 countries worldwide.
