For five years, Hildegard Wortmann was the first woman to head up sales at the Ingolstadt-based carmaker. Now she is making way for an old Audi employee.
The Volkswagen subsidiary Audi has appointed the former Porsche Europe boss Marco Schubert as the new head of sales in Ingolstadt. Schubert will take over on Sunday from Hildegard Wortmann, who came to Audi from BMW in 2019 and is now leaving the Volkswagen Group.
Audi announced that she was leaving at her own request and by mutual agreement. Supervisory Board Chairman Manfred Döss said that Wortmann had “significantly advanced sales in times of crisis. Marco Schubert brings the international experience that we need now.”
Schubert has already worked for Audi for 20 years, including as head of sales in China and head of the Northern Europe region, and has been head of the Europe region at Porsche since 2021. Born in Magdeburg, he will also become a member of the Extended Group Management of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg.
Works council chairman Jörg Schlagbauer said that Wortmann, as the first woman on the Audi board, had provided lasting impetus in sales. “We welcome Marco Schubert back to Audi in his new role as board member for sales and marketing and are confident that we will work with him constructively and openly to further modernize sales.” Hildegard Wortmann said: “In the end, it is always the people who make the difference.”
