As reported by the company in a press release, This certification recognizes the inclusion of raw materials of plant origin in its production process, allowing the production of renewable diesel through the co-processing of soybean oil.
ISCC is a global certification scheme aligned with the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) of the European Union and the United Kingdom. This scheme ensures traceability of the process and provides the calculation of greenhouse gas emission reductions.
“This is a milestone that reaffirms Raízen’s commitment to reducing the carbon footprint. We put all our innovation capacity to achieve co-processing of plant raw materials and produce sustainable products that are increasingly in demand by our customers,” express Andres CavallariCEO of Raízen Argentina.
Raízen explained that this new production process, which is carried out at the Dock Sud refinery’s hydrotreatment plant, is already operating on a sustained basis. “The certification achieved confirmed a reduction in emissions of up to 80.4% in the life cycle of plant-based diesel, compared to the same volume of fossil-based diesel.”the company noted.
“At Raízen Argentina we are committed to the energy transition, and we continue to explore and invest in new technologies for the decarbonization of our products, thus building a cleaner and more renewable energy matrix. In this case, our initiative integrates another major player in the Argentine economy, which is the agricultural sector,” they added.
This year Shell is celebrating 110 years of presence in Argentina, and as part of this celebration, they launched initiatives such as renewable diesel, which they say “make the difference and are the real engine that drives us forward.”
