The direct bank with around nine million customers in this country is getting a new CEO. He comes from the industry leader.
The direct bank ING Germany has hired a new boss from Deutsche Bank. Lars Stoy (52), most recently responsible for Deutsche Bank’s private customer business in the domestic market, will lead the direct bank from the beginning of 2025, ING Germany announced in Frankfurt. He will succeed the current boss Nick Jue (59), who has decided to return to his native Netherlands after more than seven years at the helm.
According to Deutsche Bank, Stoy has been head of the private customer bank in Germany since May 2021. In Germany, he is responsible for both the broad private customer business of Deutsche Bank and Postbank as well as the business with wealthy customers in private banking and wealth management. For Stoy, the move to the top position at ING Germany, which is part of the Dutch financial group ING, is a career move: it has more than nine million customers.
Stoy has been with Deutsche Bank for 16 years
The manager has been working for the Deutsche Bank Group for 16 years. Stoy has shaped the private customer business of Deutsche Bank and Postbank in Germany for many years, said Claudio de Sanctis, Deutsche Bank’s Board Member for Private Customers, in a statement.
At Deutsche Bank, Dominik Hennen will now report directly to de Sanctis, it was further stated. The successor in the Private Banking & Wealth Management Germany division is yet to be announced. The “Handelsblatt” had previously reported on the Stoy personnel issue.
At the same time, ING Germany is losing its private customer director Daniel Llano (49), as it further announced. According to “Handelsblatt” information, he is moving to the major US bank JP Morgan and is to drive the market launch in the German private customer business.
