What is a death pension?
The death pension is a type of economic benefit that is granted to the dependent relatives of a person who diedThis pension is intended to provide financial support to the deceased’s dependents, who may have been financially supported by him or her.
In some cases, beneficiaries receive a pension equal to 70% of the pension that the deceased received during his or her lifetime, although this may vary.
Who can access a pension for the death of a retiree?
You can apply for the benefit if you are part of one of these groups and it must be taken into account that the procedure can be carried out 10 business days after the death of the retired person.
- Spouse: updated marriage certificate (the update must be after the date of death).
- Cohabitant: you must prove that you have lived together for 5 years before the date of death. If you have a child recognized by both, the period is reduced to 2 years.
- Children: under 18 years of age, single and not receiving any other benefit. There is no age limit in cases where the child is unable to work and has been in the care of the deceased pensioner.
Documentation to process the pension for the death of a retiree at ANSES
From the deceased retiree:
- Death certificate.
- Banking Information Form (PS 6.76), only if this information is not registered with ANSES.
If you are the spouse or partner of the retiree:
- DNI.
- Affidavit Form Art. 1º Law 17.562
- If the deceased person retired due to moratorium (Law 24,476) and there are outstanding installments to be paid, the Form Acceptance of discount of moratorium installment of the pension benefit must be submitted.
- Affidavit Form on the possible receipt of benefits in provinces not affiliated with SIPA or in the Armed or Security Forces (PS 6.284). on the possible receipt of benefits in provinces not affiliated with SIPA or in the Armed or Security Forces.
If you are a child unable to work:
- Affidavit Form Art. 1º Law 17.562 (PS 6.9).
- Form Affidavit of Economic Dependence Holder (PS 6.12).
- Testimonial economic dependence affidavit form (PS 6.13).
- If you are an orphan, you must present the original and a copy of the testimony of temporary or permanent guardianship or curatorship, with acceptance of the position, discernment and authorization to receive accrued and future wages.
