More guests from abroad: More tourist overnight stays in July

The tourism business in Germany continues to grow. There are also more guests coming from abroad, who were initially hesitant after the Corona crisis.

More tourists are staying overnight in Germany again. In the first seven months of the year, hotels and other establishments with more than ten beds registered a total of 280.5 million overnight stays, according to the Federal Statistical Office. That was 1.9 percent more than in the same period last year. Guests from abroad made an above-average contribution to growth, with an increase of 6.6 percent to 48.2 million overnight stays.

After the Corona crisis, foreign guests were initially hesitant to return. The number of overnight stays by domestic residents grew by 1.0 percent to 232.2 million in the seven months. In July, there were a total of 57.5 million overnight stays, around 1.0 percent more than a year ago.
