Focusing on public services, they regulate how tickets and invoices should be drafted

The Ministry of Commerce, in line with the Consumer Protection Act, explained what information should be included on a receipt for a purchase or contract for services.

The Ministry of Commerce defined the information that must be in the receipts made by suppliers of goods and services They cannot contain sums or concepts unrelated to said good or service. The measure is taken after the announcement of Luis Caputo about what Electricity and gas bills will no longer be able to include taxes and fees on the invoices, but this is now included for all tickets and invoices that are issued.

Taking into account the Consumer Protection Law, the Secretary in charge of Pablo Lavigne clarified that the tickets or invoices must be referred to in the form unique and exclusive to the good or service specifically contracted by the consumer and supplied by the supplier.

At the same time, it clarifies that failure to comply with this resolution may be subject to sanctions. This measure will come into effect on Wednesday, September 11 and will have an adaptation period of THIRTY (30) days.

Tickets and invoices: why this measure is required

For the Government, “over time it has become a widespread practice for a large number of suppliers in the market, the inclusion and billingwithin the commercial documentation issued to consumers for the supply of goods and servicesconcepts foreign to those contracted by the consumer,” he justified.

The court also added that this practice constitutes a “violation” of the duty to provide fair treatment to consumers and a “violation” of the consumer’s freedom of choice.

“The situation described implies, in turn, a possible affectation of the rights that the consumer has with respect to the information that he or she must have at the time of making payments for contracted goods and services,” they added.

Finally, they point out that “consumers are likely to find themselves in a situation of specific risk of incurring errors or confusion about the true nature of the contracted services and their prices.”a risk that becomes even more serious in the case of those consumers in vulnerable and disadvantaged situations”.
