Trailer for The Mystery of Salem’s Lot, the film based on Stephen King’s novel comes to Max

It was previously adapted into a miniseries directed by Tobe Hooper and starring David Soul and James Mason in 1979.

Max revealed the first trailer of The Mystery of Salem’s Lothis adaptation of the classic vampire novel Stephen King from 1975, directed by Gary Dauberman (It franchise), announcing that the film will premiere on the streaming platform on Thursday, October 3.

In The Mystery of Salem’s Lot, author Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) returns to his childhood home, Jerusalem’s Lot, in search of inspiration for his next book, only to discover that his hometown is under attack by a bloodthirsty vampire.

Other cast members include Alfre Woodard, Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Spencer Treat Clark, Pilou Asbæk and John Benjamin Hickey.

Dauberman directed the film from his own script and served as executive producer. Producers include James Wan and Michael Clear for Atomic Monster; Roy Lee for Vertigo; and Mark Wolper.

The story of The Mystery of Salem’s Lot

The Salem’s Lot Mystery, a cornerstone of horror master King’s oeuvre, marked the author’s first major foray into vampire fiction and his second published novel, following Carrie. The book laid the groundwork for King’s shared universe, as characters and locations from Salem’s Lot would appear in later works such as The Dark Tower series. It was previously adapted into a CBS miniseries, directed by Tobe Hooper and starring David Soul and James Masonin 1979.
