IAA Transportation: Bosch reorganizes commercial vehicle business – focus on electric trucks

Bosch already generates one in four euros from parts for commercial vehicles. In the future, this figure is set to rise even further. The supplier wants to increase its sales, particularly in electric and hydrogen trucks.

The supplier Bosch wants to expand its commercial vehicle business and is restructuring the business area. From January 2025, the division will be bundled in a new business unit, the company announced at the IAA Transportation trade fair in Hanover. According to the information, the segment accounts for around a quarter of the group’s sales.

“In the coming years, we expect the continued growth of global freight transport and the simultaneous switch to alternative drives in commercial vehicles to provide a further growth spurt for our business,” said Bosch Mobility boss Markus Heyn. The new business unit now intends to make targeted use of these opportunities. To this end, system development and product and portfolio management for truck and off-road applications will be combined.

“We are convinced that we can offer our customers added value through this new setup,” said Jan-Oliver Röhrl, who is to lead the new business unit. The group expects that by 2030, one in five heavy trucks will be electric, and by 2035, one in three. According to the forecast, another ten percent will then be fuel cell trucks.
