Pettovello gave Francis detailed figures on poverty and social assistance policies under President Javier Milei’s administration. The official had already been with the Pope last February during a visit by the presidential entourage.

Pope Francis received this Monday in the Vatican the Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovellowho presented a report on the situation in Argentina in areas under his jurisdiction such as Social Development, Labor and Education.

On the same day that he had met in the morning with the CGT leadership, the Supreme Pontiff received the official in the afternoon at the Santa Marta residence, in a meeting that lasted for an hour.

Pettovello gave Francis detailed figures on poverty and social assistance policies under President Javier Milei’s administration. The official had already been with the Pope last February during a visit by the presidential entourage.

It has been reported that, as in the meeting with the CGT, the subject of the Pope’s possible visit to Argentina was touched upon, although Jorge Bergoglio did not give details about a specific date.

Although the Pope heard Pettovello’s information first hand, since the beginning of the libertarian administration, the official has periodically sent reports to the highest authority of the Catholic Church on her areas of influence, as revealed by Milei himself in journalistic interviews.

The Holy Father also plans to receive the social leader in the coming days. Juan Grabois, who traveled to Rome as a member of the Dicastery for Human and Integral Development, which next Friday will hold an event to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the first World Meeting of Popular Movements.

Grabois had several clashes with Pettovello due to the policies promoted by the official to eliminate the intermediation of social organizations in regards to assistance plans and the limitation of street protests that include pickets, the latter in conjunction with the Ministry of Security led by Patricia Bullrich.
