The President affirmed that the fight against inflation is a central issue

The meeting was also attended by a large group of businessmen who participate in the agreement reached with the national government, which includes a basket with 1,321 products.

Fernández emphasized that “inflation is not only the result of the monetary issue but of many aspects that range from the psychological to the monetary, something that has been recognized by international financial organizations.”

“We have a slightly clearer horizon because Argentina needs to grow and develop in equal conditions and for those who live on a salary, the fight against inflation is a central issue,” he emphasized.

Fernandez pondered that the agreement has been achieved “with dialogue” which “is the most valuable,” he stressed.

“I am glad that both Argentine businessmen and multinational companies have reached this price agreement and I am glad that everyone has committed to putting an end to a problem for everyone, such as inflation,” he specified.

Then he pointed out: “We have taken a very important step and it is key to our future economic design. We are putting the public accounts in order without the people suffering because we are concerned that the people will suffer with inflation.”

“We are working for it, since the inflation rate for December was lower than that of December 2020 and that is progress,” the President stressed.

Fernandez called for deepening the dialogue between the public and private sectors because “dialogue is built and that is why this price agreement is more virtuous.”

The Head of State urged “those of us who do not think the same to come to an agreement, this is very gratifying because there are conflicting interests, objectives and thoughts and for this reason, this makes the agreement more virtuous.”

Fernández also said: “I am convinced that if we sit down to solve problems, the chances of solving the problems are great, as we have already done, in the case of the automotive industry, with SMEs, with the national purchase and also with agribusiness” .

“Sectors with conflicting interests arrived and left in agreement,” he said, referring to the negotiations carried out with the companies to reach a new price agreement.

“Enough of fighting, of discussing, because at some point the interests have to be concurrent, we all have to win”, emphasized the President.

At the beginning of the act, Feletti, speaking, assured that the new Care Prices agreement “will serve as an anti-inflationary anchor.”

He explained that one of the objectives of the understanding is to correlate a wide range of products that can be easily acquired, with “the income policy”, in the search for an agreement on prices and wages “as a horizon”.

“As a more immediate objective, it will serve as an anti-inflationary anchor,” Feletti stressed.

He said that the food basket “increasingly took a larger portion of the salary,” and this new basket of products agreed with the private sector seeks to reverse that process.

Due to its low cost, “we trust that it will leverage consumption, as has happened in the last two months,” he stressed.

In this way “the people benefit, the workers benefit, and money is freed for other activities, promoting a virtuous circle,” Feletti assured.

After the official’s words, it was the turn of the representative of the Unilever firm, Karen Vizental, who highlighted “the work articulated between the public and the private, and above all the great effort that the companies have been making.”

“We are talking about leading brands that make up this basket and highlighted the need to continue expanding these consensuses that our country needs so much,” said Vizental.

The Care Prices Program includes 1,321 products at agreed prices throughout the country, double that of the previous version.

The new list contains articles from the items and categories of warehouse, cleaning, bookstore, perfumery, personal care and hygiene, items for babies, pets, fresh (dairy, cold cuts, fresh pasta, empanadas and cake tops), frozen and beverages .

It is an agreement between the National Government and more than 100 companies that produce mass consumer goods. There are large companies (the bulk of the basket) and also SMEs that have joined in recent renewals and that highly value the participation of their products in the program.

It is the ninth consecutive year that this program will be in force, which began in 2014 and is consolidated as a structural, comprehensive and relevant public policy for the consumption and care of the pocket of Argentine households.

+Precios Care products are marketed throughout the country, in the main retail and wholesale supermarket chains, and branches of the Cooperativa Obrera.

The main objective of the program is to provide a sign and reference for prices in gondola and allow consumers to access a large number of brands and presentations of the most representative goods of daily consumption.

This renewal is valid for one year, with a quarterly review and monthly corrections. The first stage contemplates an adjustment guideline of 2% monthly average, for all products and will be in force until next April 7.
