Radical MP Martín Arjol criticised the sectors of his party that called for his expulsion and confirmed his support for the Government.

Martin Arjolone of the radical deputies targeted for supporting the veto of Javier Milei to retirements, he said this Saturday that He is not afraid of being kicked out of the UCR. “There is a kind of double standard in radicalism, it seems that some have certain prerogatives by virtue of their surnames and others do not,” he accused in reference to the president of his party, the senator Martin Lousteau.

“I’m not afraid of being kicked out”he assured Arjol in radio statements. After he and four UCR deputies supported the presidential veto, the sector headed by Martin Lousteau and Facundo Manes They pushed through a resolution to suspend the party affiliation of this group and subject them to an ethics commission that could decide to expel them.

The change of vote of the five radicals exposed the different internal conflicts within the radicalism. Arjol tried to defend himself in an interview on CNN Radio Argentina. “Sometimes it seems that the problem is having voted with the ruling party because when you vote with Kirchnerism nothing happens. So, when I see that the disqualifications come, for example, from Martín Lousteau or from Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and Martín Lousteau, who was Cristina’s minister, I say that I am on the right track,” he said.

Specifically, Arjol admitted that he supports the government of La Libertad Avanza. In fact, he not only took selfies with Javier Mileibut with the Minister of Defense, Luis Petri. To justify this position, the deputy said that “if people are enduring the difficult transition to leave the country, it is because they want a real and permanent change. And we are supporting them in this.”

He then added: “There is no opportunism here. Because you can tell me, in the difficult times Argentina is going through, wouldn’t it be better to wait, speculate, wait, see what happens? Well, I’m not one of those leaders.”

In favor of the privatization of Aerolíneas Argentinas

The government’s intention to privatise the flagship airline is nothing new. It tried to do so with the Ley Bases, but had to include it on a list of non-saleable public companies. But soon after, an increasingly accelerated process began to create the conditions for, at least, outsourcing it.

In this regard, Arjol said: “I believe in the privatization of Aerolíneas”He then explained his position: “I believe that the State does not have to manage the planes, the skies must obviously be freed, so that there is the possibility of free competition,” said the deputy.

Along these lines, he defended the government’s initiative. He assures that “It will produce more flights and ultimately we will not end up paying the deficit of Aerolíneas with the VAT that each Argentine pays so that some can fly cheaply.“. However, he said privatization must go through Congress.
