Finance: Allianz: Global financial assets continue to grow

After a setback last year, the booming stock markets around the world have again ensured significant increases in wealth in 2023. Things are likely to continue to improve this year as well.

After an upturn last year, the insurer Allianz expects global financial assets to continue to grow in 2024. Overall, global financial assets of private households increased by 7.6 percent to 239 trillion euros last year, according to the “Allianz Global Wealth Report” wealth study. An increase of 6.5 percent is expected for this year.

With an increase of 6.8 percent to 7.953 trillion euros, Germany did better last year than Western Europe, where private households’ financial assets increased by an average of 5 percent. However, adjusted for inflation, the picture is “less rosy,” explained Allianz: On this basis, the increase was only a meager 0.7 percent. In addition, purchasing power at the end of last year was still 1.7 percent below the pre-corona year of 2019.

German savers have “four lost years” behind them. With net financial assets per capita of 69,060 euros, Germany remained in 18th place among the 20 richest countries in the world last year.
