Flexibility and more time: What employees want for 2022

Flexibility and more time: What employees want for 2022

A job that makes you happy: This is at the top of the job wish list for 42 percent of employees. This is the result of a survey conducted by the Xing network among its members in German-speaking countries. 32 percent named more salary, 29 percent more time with family and friends.

It is interesting that hardly any employee suffers from an unsuitable desk or a missing screen: Better home office equipment brings up the rear with three percent in the mood barometer.

The fact that around 85 percent of the employees surveyed have the opportunity to work partially or entirely from home also shows that the world of work has changed into a “new work world” as a result of the pandemic. And this form of work should remain possible: 40 percent say that in future they want to be able to decide flexibly when and how often they work from home. Only around eight percent want to work exclusively from home. Forgoing the home office is only an option for less than ten percent.

Challenging year 2021

For around 60 percent, the past year 2021 was more strenuous or challenging than the year before. However, 55 percent and thus more than half of those surveyed stated that they were satisfied with the working year and happy with their current job. According to the survey, in addition to the changed way of dealing with colleagues and customers, less solidarity with the company and the accelerated digital transformation in the job have shaped the working year.
