Most people start their studies at the age of 18 or 19, when they have no professional experience,” says Alexander Freischlager. That is the difference to later, part-time further education.
The 40-year-old studied economics at the JKU: Today he heads up Operation Management at Kepler University and is Managing Director of Betriebs- und Autovermietung GmbH, the real estate subsidiary of the JKU. This professional step was also the reason for the decision to continue my education: “As a managing director, you have to deal with a lot of legal issues.”
Freischlager wanted to acquire basic legal knowledge and decided to complete the “Business Law” course at the Limak Austrian Business School in Linz while working: “I refreshed old knowledge and also got to know completely new areas, such as compliance and tax law.”
The courses are held in blocks, and according to Freischlager, who completed the course in 2020, the workload is up to 20 hours a week: the effort is definitely worth it. And the discussion and exchange with colleagues is worth its weight in gold: “You meet so many people who are at the same professional level as you and get a different perspective,” says Freischlager, who now assesses many issues from a legal perspective. The course is suitable for people who hold a managerial position and have professional experience.
Walls are torn down
“Participants can expect a broad overview of the legal issues that a manager comes into contact with,” says the academic director Andreas Geroldinger: from corporate and civil law to labor and tax law to the framework conditions in the digital age. Through case studies from practice, the wall of legal vocabulary is being torn down bit by bit.
OÖN and Limak: Four partial scholarships to be awarded
The OÖN and the Limak Austrian Business School jointly award a total of four partial scholarships for two MBA and two university courses with a total value of 28,800 euros.
