Ignacio Torres presented a debt relief plan for Chubut

“I will end my administration leaving the province completely debt-free, with only one installment of 65 million dollars to pay,” said the PRO leader.

“I will end my administration leaving the province completely debt-free, with only one installment to pay of 65 million dollars,” said the PRO leader. According to the figures presented, Chubut has already cancelled more than $106 million since August 2024, out of a total of $672 million in debt.

The agreement also includes the Reactivation of public works paralyzed that will be completed with provincial funds, which will be deducted from the amount owed to the Trust Fund. In addition, the compensation of the debt with the ANSES for the pension deficit and funds owed by the Fiscal Consensus.

Torres stressed that when he took office, Chubut’s financial situation was critical, with current expenses exceeding 110% of income. Today, that percentage has been reduced to 73%. “Today, Chubut is among the most orderly provinces in the country in terms of economic management,” he said.

The governor also referred to the first months of his mandate, when the province was facing difficulties in paying bonuses and covering essential expenses. “We found ourselves facing a bleak outlook, but we decided to defend the interests of the people of Chubut instead of submitting to the Casa Rosada,” he said.

Finally, Torres stressed that this agreement will allow Chubut achieve fiscal balance without compromising its financial future. “For the first time, we have managed to get the Nation to assume its responsibility and the province to emerge victorious from a negotiation,” he concluded.
