Construction workers affiliated with the Construction Workers Union of the Argentine Republic (UOCRA) will see a salary increase reflected in their wages in October, linked to the collective bargaining negotiations in the sector. The increase is part of an agreement reached between the union, led by Gerardo Martinezand the main business chambers in the sector, such as the Argentine Chamber of Construction (CAMARCO), chaired by Gustavo Weissand the Argentine Federation of Construction Entities (FAEC), headed by Ricardo Andino.
The agreement, which was signed on August 21, establishes that the increases not applied during the previous month must be adjusted in the next settlement. This negotiation corresponds to the second stage of the salary negotiation agreed for the period April 2024 to March 2025.
According to the union’s official statement, “This salary increase will apply to the different categories established in Collective Labor Agreement No. 76/75The increase is broken down as follows: 5% in August 2024 on June base salaries, and 4% in September 2024 on August salaries.
The agreement also provides for the creation of a special commission that will “closely monitor economic and construction sector variables, assessing their socioeconomic impact.” This commission is scheduled to meet on September 21 to define possible adjustments starting in October 2024.
As for the salaries of construction workers in September 2024, the wages vary by area of the country and are detailed in a grid. The values are expressed as daily wages per hour, except in the case of security guards, who receive a monthly salary. In Zone A, for example, a specialized officer earns $3,946 per hour, while in Zone C Austral, the same position receives $7,891 per hour.
This salary scheme seeks to reflect the geographical particularities and needs of the sector, ensuring remuneration in accordance with each category and region of the country.
