Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer to be prosecuted for car crash that killed pedestrian

Klinghoffer is expected to be charged with a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence.

Klinghoffer is free on his own recognizance.

Josh Klinghofferguitarist with steps by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janes Addition, Pearl Jamand the bands of Iggy Pop and Morrisseywill be arraigned tomorrow in a California court for a March 18 car crash that left a pedestrian dead.

Klinghoffer is expected to be arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence. His arraignment and plea are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. PT tomorrow at the Alhambra, California, courthouse.

What the case against Josh Klinghoffer says

Court records indicate that on March 18, Klinghoffer was driving a black 2022 GMC Yukon when the vehicle struck pedestrian Israel Sanchez, 47, in a crosswalk in Alhambra. Sanchez, who was struck in the back, was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital later that day at 5:28 p.m.

The lawyers of Ashley Sanchezthe only daughter of victim Israel Sanchez, filed a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit against Klinghoffer, saying, in part, that the Guitarist was probably distracted at the time of the accident.

Klinghoffer is free on his own recognizance.
