Court records indicate that on March 18, Klinghoffer was driving a black 2022 GMC Yukon when the vehicle struck pedestrian Israel Sanchez, 47, in a crosswalk in Alhambra. Sanchez, who was struck in the back, was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital later that day at 5:28 p.m.
The lawyers of Ashley Sanchezthe only daughter of victim Israel Sanchez, filed a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit against Klinghoffer, saying, in part, that the Guitarist was probably distracted at the time of the accident.
Klinghoffer is free on his own recognizance.
