Now the boss speaks up: Sounds crazy, writes Elon Musk on X about the illness incidents at the German Tesla factory.

Elon Musk wants to “look at” the situation in Berlin

Tesla recently caused a stir by frequently paying home visits to employees at the Grünheide plant who were on sick leave. Home visits are nothing unusual – “many companies do that,” said plant manager André Thierig to the DPA news agency. “We wanted to appeal to the morale of the workforce.” IG Metall, on the other hand, criticizes the very high workload in the car factory and called the home visits an “absurd action”.

According to Tesla, the trigger for the unannounced home visits was an above-average level of sickness in the summer months. “At times it reached 15 percent or more,” said Thierig. In Grünheide in Brandenburg, Tesla has been manufacturing electric cars for more than two years. According to the company, almost 12,000 employees work there.
