Drought alert: Government promised concrete solutions

The head of the agricultural portfolio supervised the status of fields and communes affected by water stress in the provinces of Santa Fe and Entre Ríos, together with governors Omar Perotti and Gustavo Bordet.

“It is an issue that we permanently monitor; the objective is to update the emergency fund so that it is once again an instrument of rapid response to losses; we hope that in the next few hours the weather will ease the conditions, but what was lost was lost and we must work on the recovery of working capital,” he added.

In addition, the head of the agricultural portfolio indicated: “We are in the process of evaluating the losses.”

“The steps to follow are also being defined together with the provinces, we want to provide assistance to the community of producers, with a preliminary survey in the territory of the fields and supported by the technological system to assess the loss of working capital” , he pointed.

During the day, the head of the agricultural portfolio flew over areas affected by the drought in Santa Fe and Entre Ríos; Later, in the town of Lucas González in Entre Ríos, he was received by Bordet, with whom he had a series of meetings with local producers grouped in the local Cooperative “El Progreso”.

Then he continued his agenda with Perotti in the Santa Fe city of Rafaela, where they analyzed the impact of climate change on agriculture and livestock in the region; and spoke with producers from the Presidente Roca commune.

In closing, Domínguez expressed that “climate change and the consequences of droughts are here to stay” and estimated that “we also need to have irrigation instruments for small and medium-sized producers, with differentiated financing, direct acquisition, the national industry and with national technology”.

Domínguez was accompanied by the heads of the Santa Fe Production portfolios, Daniel Costamagna; and Entre Ríos, Juan José Bahillo; the producer Jorge Ruíz and the agronomist Matías Lestani.
