Venezuela ordered the arrest of another 16 Argentines in the case of the Emtrasur plane

This was announced by the Venezuelan attorney general, Tarek William Saab, who two weeks ago had requested the arrest of Javier and Karina Milei and Patricia Bullrich.

The government of Venezuela issued an arrest warrant against another 16 Argentines in the framework of the case for the Venezuelan-Iranian Emtrasur planeheld in Buenos Aires since 2022, for which an arrest warrant has already been issued against the president Javier Milei.

On this occasion, the attorney general, Tarek William Saabannounced that they requested the capture of Argentine ministers, judges, prosecutors and deputies, in what is another chapter of the diplomatic conflict between the governments of Milei and Nicolás Maduro.

In the list released by the Venezuelan official, the judges appear Federico Villenas, Carlos Vallefin, Roberto Lemos Arias, Pablo Bertuzzi, Leopoldo Bruglia and Mariano Llorens. The deputies Ricardo Lopez Murphy and Gerardo Milman. The Minister of Security of Buenos Aires Waldo Wolff the legislator of the city of Buenos Aires Yamil Santoro; the lawyer María Eugenia Talerico; the lawyer Leonardo Camicher; and the prosecutors Carlos Stornelli, Cecilia Incardona, Diego Iglesias and Franco Rinaldi.

“We are going to base the request for arrest warrants on aggravated robbery. They are vulgar thieves clothed in a false entity and authority to commit these crimes; money laundering, illegitimate deprivation of liberty, simulation of a punishable act, illicit interference, disabling of aircraft and criminal association,” the prosecutor announced.

On September 18, the official had reported the arrest warrant against the president, against the Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich and against the general secretary of the Presidency Karina Milei.

This had been repudiated by the Argentine Foreign Ministry, which stated: “Argentina repudiates the arrest warrants (…) following the incident with the Emtrasur company plane.” He also added: “The aforementioned case was resolved by the Judiciary, an independent power over which the Executive cannot and should not have interference.”

The case of the Venezuelan plane detained in Buenos Aires

The plane over which the conflict broke out was sold to Venezuela by the sanctioned Iranian airline Mahan Air. He arrived in the country during the presidency of Alberto Fernandez coming from Mexico, with a shipment of automotive parts. Its crew members, 14 Venezuelans and five Iranians, They were detained and later released.

Finally, in February of this year, already under the management of Javier Milei, the aforementioned judge Villena ordered the seizure of the aircraft by the United States.
