Software: Ifo: Companies expect more productivity through AI

When the computer relieves you of work, performance can increase. Companies are hoping for a powerful boost from artificial intelligence.

More than two thirds of companies in Germany expect greater productivity soon through artificial intelligence (AI). According to a survey by the Ifo Institute among around 6,000 companies, 27 percent are already using AI. Within the next five years, those surveyed expect their own company’s productivity to be 8 to 16 percent more productive through AI.

Service providers, commercial and industrial companies have high expectations; they are lower in the construction industry. The range shows the uncertainty about the exact effects of AI, says Ifo survey leader Klaus Wohlrabe. But “all companies will have to examine whether and how they can use AI.”
