The National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) validated the update of the electricity tariff scheme that the distributors Edenor and Edesur will apply starting this month in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Buenos Aires (AMBA), through Resolutions 697 and 698/2024 published in the Official Gazette.

In the regulatory standards it was specified that “the rate to the end user should be increased by 2.7%, “the updates of the PEST prices and the electricity transportation and distribution rates must then be reflected in their corresponding incidence to achieve such a result.”

As explained, the transfer to the invoices of the adjustment in the Seasonal Price of Electric Energy (PEST), that the Ministry of Energy set as of October between $63,187 and $66,885 per kWh for high-income users and businesses and industries.

Rates: what will happen to middle-income users

In this way, the official text specified that “in October 2024 the average bill before taxes of users R-Level 1 high income, R-Level 2 low income and R-Level 3 medium income increase on average with respect to the current table by September 2024 2.7%”.

In addition, it was clarified that this month middle-income users of the segments R1 and R2 that consume up to 400 kWh/month would pay an average of 43% less than high-income users in the same segments, while low-income users would pay 55% less than N1 consumers in the aforementioned segments.

In this regard, the ENRE pointed out that 815,000 users are located in the low income level of the R1 and R2 segments, which represents 35% of Edesur users. while at Edenor there are 900,000 users in this category, which is equivalent to 34% of the company’s total.

The organization also communicated the new transportation charges established in the Concession Contract for each type of equipment and tensions that will govern from October along with the Average Historical Monthly Sanctions that will be applied to the transporters Transcomahue, Transnea, Transnoa, Transba, Transpa , Epen, Distrocuyo and Transener.
