As one of the shareholders of the firm EXARIgnacio Celorrio will represent the project in the United Kingdom Olaroz-Caucharilocated in the Jujuy department of Susques, at more than 4,000 meters above sea level, which began to produce lithium carbonate in June 2023.

EXAR Mining is a consortium of lithium made up of the Canadian Lithium Argentina (former Lithium Americas), the Chinese Ganfeng Lithium and the state-owned Jujuy Energía y Minería Sociedad del Estado (JEMSE).

Cauchari Olaroz It is the third national project and second in Jujuy, which practically doubled the previous national lithium production capacity, faced with an investment of US$979 million. At the peak of its construction it employed more than 3,300 people.

The mine of lithium It is currently in the phase of ramp-up heading to a production of 40,000 tons per year of “quality/battery” lithiumexpected to arrive only in 2025. Meanwhile, it has already obtained permission from the National Securities Commission (CNV) to issue an ON for US$500 million.

Journalist: What is the expectation of the presentation at the London Metal Exchange Conference?

Ignacio Celorrio: Our expectation, naturally, is to show the mining investment world what has been done in Jujuy, the launch of the first lithium mine in more than 20 years based on brines, which is a source of pride for all of us.

Journalist: What differentiates you from other projects?

CI: The joint development of an investment that covers several countries and continents, in order to bring a high quality product from Jujuy to the world.

Journalist: What other aspect will they show to attract investments?

CI: We are going to show the potential and additional advantages of both the project and the NOA in general in relation to lithium. The London Metal Exchange Conference is one of the main conferences globally, the Argentine delegation is very important and we understand that it is an excellent forum to show opportunities.

Journalist: What would those opportunities be?

CI: Those that exist through the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI) and to further realize the mining potential that Argentina has, both in lithium and copper. In that sense, the participation of the governors, I believe, is key as well as the Secretary of Mining in order to show the State policy and the support from the governmental point of view for these high risk investments, which have to be made to bring that potential to reality.
