Javier Milei sharply cut the funds allocated to the provinces

The national government adds more money to the special fund that serves to finance the National Treasury Contributions (ATN), but, since three months he does not attend any province with it. Specifically, it already totals $478,268 million, but, until now, it has only disbursed $26,300 million.

“During September, for the third consecutive month, ATN was not distributed. Therefore, the accumulated figure for 2024 continues with a total distribution of $26.3 billion while The fund has an undistributed remainder of $451,968 million”says the consultant Politikon Chaco in a report detailing money transfers outside of what corresponds to federal tax sharing.

The consulting firm that runs the economist Alejandro Pegoraro remember that the fund is constituted with the equivalent to 1% of the co-participating estate and, so far this year, only 5.5% has been distributed of the total of $478,260 million received. “It is about the level of distribution lowest since at least 2019 when it was 7.9% in the reference period,” he explained.

It is worth remembering that the ATN are the resources with the greatest degree of discretion for use by the Executive Branch, designed to meet unforeseen expenses, such as a natural disaster. For example, during September, there were fires in the Sierras of Córdoba and nothing from the fund was used.

The highest level of use of ATN was in 2020 with 238% and 2021, with 52%, both years influenced by the recessive effect of the Covid pandemic. In 2022 and 2023, 29.2% and 20% were distributed respectively.

The provinces that received this type of assistance this year are Corrientes, with $1,000 million; Chubut, $4.5 billion; Entre Ríos, $3.8 billion; Jujuy, $1.5 billion; Misiones, $9,000 million; Santa Cruz, $3,000 million; Santa Fe, $1,500 million and Tucumán, $2,000 million.

How much money did the Government send to the provinces?
