YPF begins to self-supply its La Plata refinery with energy

The La Plata thermal power plant consists of two plants that supply the National Interconnected Electric System, one of which was inaugurated last year, after an investment of US$166 million, and enables the supply of electricity to 210,000 homes.

Through resolution 5/2022 of the Secretary of Energy, published today in the Official Gazette, the change of categorization, requested by YPF Energy, of the La Plata Thermal Power Plant from “Generating Agent” to “Self-Generating Agent” was made official. of Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM).

According to YPF data, the plant will provide 200 tons per hour of steam for the energy consumption of its refinery operations.

For its part, through resolution 4/2022, the portfolio of Darío Martínez authorized the entry of the Altos de Tinogasta I Photovoltaic Solar Park in Catamarca, of the Altos de Tinogasta company, into the Wholesale Electricity Market.

Said solar power plant, originally built by the wine and olive oil production company to self-supply its own operations, will begin to provide a total of 33 kilowatts to the Argentine Interconnection System through the Tinogasta – Fiambalá medium voltage line.
