“We repudiate the deputies who voted against the popular mandate to defend the university“said in a statement the Union Front of National Universities, at the same time that he called for “a total strike on Thursday the 10th and to consolidate the plan of struggle in defense of the salary and the university budget.”
“The popular will has been defrauded and democracy has given in to the anti-republican management of governing by decree of the National Government,” lamented the Trade Union Front and assured that “it was formed a political alliance that is incapable of being moved by the suffering of the great majoritiesin the face of the demand of all sectors to support what is fundamental: the public university, public education.”

The leader of CONADU, Pablo Perazzistated that “the government has once again turned its back on all the Argentine people” and promised that “we are going to intensify the fight plan.”
For his part, the general secretary of the Teaching Association of the National University of Avellaneda (ADUNA), Ricardo Petragliawarned that “the increase in the cost of living and the impoverishment of our material conditions is leading us to an economic situation that is becoming increasingly difficult for our teaching and non-teaching workers to cope with. There are colleagues below the poverty line”.
The statement was signed by the National Federation of University Teachers (CONADU), CONADU Historicalthe Federation of University Teachers (FEDUN), the Confederation of Education Workers (CTERA), the UTN Teachers’ Union Association (FAGDUT), the Argentine Federation of Workers of National Universities (FATUN) and the Argentine Teachers Union (UDA).
Deputies: the Government obtained support from the provinces and ratified the veto on university financing
With 159 in favor, 85 against and 5 abstentions, The ruling party was able to ratify Javier Milei’s veto in a key session for the Government prior to the treatment of the 2025 Budget.
The session lasted four hours but the opposition did not obtain two-thirds of legislators (required 166 and reached 159) present to block the president’s initiative Javier Mileiwhich the armor of its size was guaranteed with about 85 supports.
Was five abstentions (four Federal Innovation missions and the radical Pablo Cervi) and eight absent deputiesby trip or leave: Oscar Zago (MID), Héctor Stefani (PRO), María Fernanda Ávila (Unión por la Patria), Jorge Ávila, Alejandra Torres, Ricardo López Murphy (all from Encuentro Federal), Yolanda Vega (Federal Innovation) and Fernando Carabajal (UCR).
