In his X account (exTwitter), one of the opposition leaders emphasized the objective of the ruling party, after the rejection of the budget update of the universities: “They are not interested in the fiscal deficit, it is not a budgetary issue. It bothers them that there are more universities because it bothers them that there is equality.”
Furthermore, he added: “They are wrong if they think that we are going to allow ourselves to be won by resignation. We are not going to abandon the fight for our public university because we give it with our hearts, convinced that a country with a university is a country with a future.”

On Tuesday, the governor had called to reject the veto of Javier Milei to the law of University Financing warning the deputies who spoke in favor that they would be considered “traitors to our people and our history”. Defend universities “is to defend the future of Argentina,” he stated.
“This meeting has a fundamental objective: to make it clear that to the legislators Don’t vote against him tomorrow Milei’s veto to the law of university financing “We consider them traitors to our people and our history,” he said this Tuesday during a meeting in defense of the public university, hours before the debate begins in the Congress by the veto promoted by the Government.
The governor led the meeting at the Ex BIM III premises of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) together with the presidents of the Federation University of La Plata (FULP), Sol Alconada and Albertina Bidart, where he maintained: “Throughout our history there was only one factor that prevented universities from being taxed, privatized or closed: it was the struggle of students, workers and the entire community.”
Axel Kicillof warned deputies to support the veto: “They will be considered traitors to our people”
“The university was never separated from the historical and social process of our country. With the reform of 18, a more open education was achieved, which reflected the access of the middle sectors to the political life of Argentina,” he said. Kicillof and added: “That is a story fundamentally linked to radicalism: we hope that tomorrow no radical will ruin the best of their history by supporting Milei’s veto.”
In that sense, the Buenos Aires president stressed: “Defending the university is defending the future“If they take away free, massive, quality public universities from us, we will be left without the country we want.” “This It’s not a budget debate, that’s a huge lie.“Only 0.14% of the GDP is being affected, much less than what was forgiven to the richest sectors: do not come with the speech of deficit and inflation, here it is clear that what they want is a country for a few.” , he explained.
The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Buenos Aires government, with the Government ministers, Carlos Bianco; and Economy, Pablo Lopez, to the head. Along with them was the head of the Governor’s Advisors, Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez, the ministers of Habitat and Urban Development, Silvina Batakis and Women and Diversity, Estela Diaz.
