The last medical report was made by his wife, Elba Marcovecchio, on social networks. According to the report, Lanata remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit after having undergone surgery this Wednesday for a partial resection of the small intestine, performed to treat the intestinal ischemia he presented. The doctors in charge of his recovery are Sergio Giannasi and Susana Bauque, from the Italian Hospital.
“Currently, he is hemodynamically compensated, with low doses of vasopressor drugs and assisted with mechanical ventilation,” they point out about his current condition. “In addition, he maintains a slight alteration in kidney function, requires dialysis support, and continues to receive treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics,” they added.
On Wednesday afternoon Lanata underwent emergency surgery for just over two hours, using laparoscopy and due to the ischemia detected in his small intestine. It was an intestinal obstruction that caused a lack of irrigation and the beginning of necrosis in the tissues. The operation, therefore, sought to unblock the blood passage to the digestive system, although to do so they had to remove part of the small intestine.
At the end of Wednesday’s surgical procedure, a new operation was foreseen, which was confirmed in this Thursday’s report: “A surgical re-exploration has been planned for tomorrow with the aim of evaluating general conditions of the abdomen and intestine in particular,” They reported in the medical report.
