New holes have been opening up in health insurance companies in recent weeks. Now it’s official: Employees are threatened with a contribution shock in 2025 – especially from a certain salary bracket.
The discussions must have been heated; in any case, the experts’ meeting lasted longer than usual. Instead of being announced on Tuesday evening as planned, the results of the statutory health insurance appraisers’ group were not known until Wednesday afternoon. But even with the extra round overnight, the financial experts from the health insurance companies, the health insurance supervisory authorities and the Federal Ministry of Health were unable to raise any additional money: the contribution to statutory health insurance is expected to increase by 0.8 percentage points in one fell swoop next year, to an average of 17.1 percent.
