Matías Kulfas highlighted the promotion of renewable energy generation with national equipment

The National Renewable Cluster is a public-private body with representation from five jurisdictions, which seeks to favor the production of goods, technologies and services associated with electricity generation from renewable sources, official sources reported.

“We are going to San Juan with the idea of announcing the public-private productive framework where we are convening the provinces, private or mixed companies,” Kulfas advanced this morning in statements to Radio 10.

The cluster aims to “produce windmills that generate renewable energy” as well as solar panels, he explained, in addition to specifying that “San Juan has just installed a factory” for its production.

“We have the case of Impsa in Mendoza, which was very close to bankruptcy and we did a very successful rescue to get it up and running,” he added, referring to the development of wind power generating mills.

Kulfas pointed out that “it is key to have environmental sustainability and also build social sustainability, generating national employment and moving forward in this recovery and economic growth.”

The minister stressed the importance of promoting renewable energies with national equipment, and gave as an example of failure the experience that was attempted in this regard in the Presidency of Mauricio Macri, without local components.

“In the Macri government, a renewable energy plan was launched that failed; it had started well, but it was totally directed towards international financing, so when there was this brutal outflow of capital in 2018, the program ended,” he recalled.

In addition, he criticized that “it was aimed at importing equipment, wind turbines and solar panels, with which the program failed, it was left halfway through due to lack of financing, and as a country we missed the opportunity to develop a national industry of these teams.

“This is the debt that we want to settle today,” stressed the official, who pondered the dual purpose of promoting both the generation of renewable energy and “Argentine work.”

The Government of San Juan reported that in the National Renewable Cluster, the provinces that already have production of goods and technologies in the sector “are working together to resume the design, development and implementation of equipment.”

“One of the goals is the creation of new renewable generation parks”, in addition to establishing a synergy with the current national ones, in regard to the reduction of imports of components, the generation of local clean energy, the substitution of imports of fossil fuels and the generation of skilled and strategic labor at the provincial and national levels.

San Juan has 16 photovoltaic energy generating parks and another eleven projects awarded in different phases.

“We are very proud to lead the region with our photovoltaic projects, taking into account that San Juan today provides approximately 37% of solar generation nationwide and that it is the only province that will have an integrated solar panel factory that includes all the elements of the process,” Uñac said in a statement.
