The biggest secret to the success of the best instructors? They offer more than the basic curricula provides and adapt their training to the needs of applicants and social developments. This is a result of the survey as part of Capital’s large trainer study, in which more than 500 companies took part this year.

This is original Capital branded content. This article is available for ten days on stern.de. You will then find it again exclusively on capital.de. Capital belongs like that star to RTL Germany.

High priority in the training program is given to dealing with new technologies (in 78 percent of the companies surveyed), but also to teaching intercultural knowledge (54 percent) and social justice (60 percent). Anyone who gets involved will efficiently find the right applicants.

The survey ran from mid-March to early June this year. Around three million employees, more than 90,000 trainees and almost 18,000 dual students work in the companies that took part, ranging from DAX companies to craft businesses. All companies had to answer a detailed questionnaire and were evaluated according to the same criteria. In our table you will find all companies that have achieved a result of four or five stars.

This is how the best trainers were identified

survey
HR experts from the talent platform Training.de have called on Capital to all companies in Germany to have their training standards evaluated. The survey ran from mid-March to early June 2024. A total of 501 HR managers filled out the questionnaire with over 90 questions. The subject areas are identical to those of 2023. The aim of the study is to identify the success factors for training and dual study in Germany. All companies that employ at least five trainees or three dual students were eligible to take part.

Evaluation criteria
The survey is divided into five categories. The first area was about the support and integration of trainees in the company. The qualifications and support of the trainers were also examined. The second complex revolved around the topic of “learning on the job”. Teaching methods, success checks and training plans were queried here. In the third part, strategies and budgets for training marketing were examined. The fourth category was about innovative methods such as the use of digital media or how companies incorporate the technical skills of their trainees into practice. The fifth segment focused on the trainees’ chances of success. To do this, the companies had to specify takeover and dropout rates, training and starting salaries and should describe career opportunities and further training options after training.

Evaluation
The company information was rated with points; up to five points could be achieved in each of the five categories. The partial results are listed in the table in this issue and each contribute 20 percent to the overall result. A maximum of 25 points could be achieved. This total number of points determines the award: Five stars were given for 22 to 25 points, four stars for 17 to 21 points, three stars for twelve to 16 points, two stars for seven to eleven points. Four or five stars were achieved by 399 companies that were recognized and published by Capital as “Best Trainers”.

dual study
In the table we have evaluated both training occupations and dual study programs. We have divided the numerous training occupations into four categories: IT, commercial-technical, commercial and other. We have also divided the dual study programs into four areas: computer science, engineering, economics and others. The evaluation for training and dual study was carried out separately for each company, so there can be different overall results.

Regions & representation
The results are sorted by four regions. The company headquarters is relevant for this – even if companies train at several locations. Within a region, companies are listed by number of employees and in alphabetical order. If information on training or dual study is missing, the area was either not offered, no information was provided, or it was not rated with at least four stars.

Capital seal
Companies with a four or five star rating have the option of purchasing a capital seal for a fee. Two seals are offered. You can find more detailed information about the conditions at
