The assembly line at the Santa Isabel factory had ceased activity towards the end of September, resumed operations last week and will now enter a new impasse for 15 days. This was communicated today to the suppliers that supply these models.
It should be remembered that the Japanese automaker produces the Renault Alaskan model for the French brand at the Santa Isabel plant, through an agreement that includes the rental of that establishment. These are “twin” pickups.
According to auto parts sources, pickups would only be produced again in November in Córdoba, although at a lower rate than expected.
“Production plans change week by week. Now they tell us that pickup production will be stopped for two weeks,” said an auto parts supplier consulted by Scope.
The line of production In Córdoba it has been suffering permanent stoppages and in these weeks they are getting worse. Nissan reported that the cause of this stoppage has to do with a lack of parts. Added to this is the situation in the external market and the decline in internal sales. In any case, this occurs in a context of growth in patents in recent months.
So far this year, 5,179 units have been sold, 46% less than the same period in 2023.
In the sales ranking by model it is in 16th place and in the pickup segment it runs behind the Toyota Hilux, the Ford Ranger and the Volkswagen Amarok. Among the national ones, it only beats Renault’s Alaskan, which shows a year-on-year drop of 39% with 1,600 units sold in 2024.
“We have a scheduled stoppage of the pickup production line for 3 weeks adjustment in the demand of export markets”they said from the company at the end of September.
At that time, the information coming from Córdoba was that Frontier manufacturing was going to stop for the next three weeks, do it again for a week in October, and then stop, from mid-November to mid-January. This will also affect Alaskan manufacturing. No, however, to Logan, Sandero and Kangoo, which continue with normal production.
At the end of September, suppliers of these companies had reported that the total number of weeks that the line would be without activity would be 12 until the end of the year.
“In total they informed us that it has been 12 weeks since now. Nine in the remainder of the year and three at the beginning of 2025,” confirmed a supplier for the automotive company.
