Unsatisfied in your job? This is how you can finance your job change

One in three employees in Germany regularly thinks about quitting. This is the result of the “Work Happiness Report” from Awork and Appinio. The reasons are varied: Poor team culture and poor communicative management are often cited. But the feeling of not being able to develop professionally and of standing still also plays an important role.

However, the latter is not only due to the companies, but also to the employees themselves. In hardly any other country is the further training system as flexible and financially supported as much as in Germany. Even with a secondary school diploma, you can study medicine via a detour or get your master’s degree as a craftsman and then go to university to aim for a management position in a construction company.

But even those who are recognized and satisfied in their jobs can suddenly find themselves in unfamiliar territory due to changing professions. If you don’t want to get stuck in a dead-end job but want to move up, you have to continue your education.

There have been corresponding programs in Germany for a long time. In view of the shortage of skilled workers, the federal government has been pushing the issue vigorously since 2020 and is providing numerous funding. By 2030, two out of three employees should have acquired higher qualifications through further training, according to the Federal Ministry of Education. The motto of the “Vocational Training Excellence Initiative” is: “Germany as a country for further education”.
