According to a study, Germans want to spend more and more money on costumes, decorations and theme parties. Retailers are happy.

According to a study commissioned by the German Retail Association (HDE), Germans want to spend more and more money on Halloween.

This year, almost 15 percent of Germans are planning targeted purchases for themed parties and festivities surrounding the pumpkin festival, according to the HDE. A year ago the value was 13.5 percent, and in 2019 it was only 8.3 percent.

The most popular items among consumers are jewelry and accessories, make-up and make-up, decorative items and costumes.

The association expects Halloween sales of 540 million euros. This corresponds to an increase in sales of 12.5 percent compared to the previous year.

According to the association, the study is based on a representative survey of around 1,200 consumers.
