Tecspal was born in 2022 by three young entrepreneurs. They provide technological equipment to companies that have remote workers.

Take a chance, a million dollar business. That’s what they achieved three young Uruguayan entrepreneurs when they founded Tecspala startup that provides technological equipment to companies that operate with remote talents anywhere in the world.

“In 2022, my now partners, Santiago Alcuri and Juan Manuel Cat worked at an Apple reseller in Uruguayat that time A client of an English company appeared that had just hired a worker in the country to operate remotely and needed someone to provide him with a computer quickly.. And that’s what we did. Shortly afterwards, three months later, this same client told us that he had completed the employment contract with that collaborator and needed to recover the equipment. My partners went there to look for it and waited for it. Then he came back because he needed us to do the same job but in Peru and Colombia where I had other workers and then approached us to another company that requested the same service. So that’s when the three of us got together, I’m an agronomist, I was working at that time in a multinational agricultural company, we sat down to think about how to shape the business, we designed a low-risk company with practically no investment, but we needed to test if we really It was viable and profitable. We launched on the market in July 2022, we set a goal of six months of testing, but with only one month of work we invoiced a lot, we found more clients and that’s where Tecspal was born. The three of us resigned from our respective jobs to dedicate ourselves 100% to Tecspal,” explained Juan Pablo Bordaberry, CEO of Tecspal, in dialogue with Ámbito.

Currently, the company is operational in more than 85 countries and one of its strengths is that it delivers hardware in record time, between 3 and 5 days, but that is not all because it is also responsible for recovering the equipment, storing it, replacing it and even relocating it. in other markets or recycle them. “In the first year, we had set a goal of a turnover of US$1.6 million and we exceeded it because we ended up with US$1.64 million. In the second year, even better, the objective was US$5.5 million and we reached the US$6.6 million. Now, for the current year we project a turnover of around US$15 million, but in the past we would already be 10% above”, advances Bordaberry.

Regarding the firm’s plans, Bordaberry details: “we are a startup, so we are always very aware and attentive to what clients ask for. Within this framework we began to offer the service to our clients of relocating their equipment that had become obsolete. In the technology industry, equipment has a useful life of around three years, but it can be recycled in some way because it can be purchased by other types of users.. So we offered this service and immediately got a very good response, the same with the promotion of material recycling.”

Regarding the remote work model, in a context in which important multinationals are moving forward so that their employees return to the offices five days a week, Bordaberry analyzed: “I believe that in the business segment that we operate, which are software development, telecommunications or design companies, teleworking allows us to attract high-quality talent anywhere in the world and that is why I believe that there will not be major changes in these areas. . In other areas that had to be adapted very quickly to teleworking due to the pandemic, now that is changing and there is more of a mix, between days in the office and other days remote, it is a balance. There is no black or white, but each company is choosing how to continue.. Personally at Tecspal We have 26 employees and they all work remotely, We have offices that are open every day and we give that freedom because I think it is very important for the team.”

Finally, the CEO of Tecspal highlights what it means to be a startup that operates with various countries around the world but from Uruguay: “We have many advantages, from taxes to banking transparency, we can invoice anywhere in the world without problems, there are many benefits to being based in Uruguay. Another key issue is that the Uruguayan ecosystem is very small, but at the same time very powerful, because from its conception it projects outwards, since the local market is small due to the number of inhabitants of the country, that is why entrepreneurs think they are operating outside and that is where business chambers, other colleagues, among other organizations come into play and that is why fortunately we also have a very well-oiled synergy.”
