In a recent agreement reached between the Argentine Federation of Commerce and Services Employees (FAECyS) and the Argentine Federation of Travel and Tourism Companies (FAEVYT), it was established a salary increase for workers in the tourism sectorwho are included in the Collective Labor Agreement (CCT) 547/08.
This increase responds to the need to adjust income to inflation and the evolution of the economy, especially in an industry that is considered key to the country’s economic development.
Salary increase for October and November
The agreement reached implies a non-remunerative increase of 8% on employees’ salaries, divided into two parts: 4.25% corresponding to the month of October and the remaining 3.75% in November.
In addition, this increase will have an impact on the calculation of additional benefits for seniority and presenteeism, as well as on the Annual Complementary Salary (SAC), as confirmed by Armando Cavalieri, general secretary of FAECyS. Cavalieri highlighted that this measure is essential to “revalue the efforts of commercial employees in the tourism sector”, an area of growing importance for the Argentine economy.
Recent salary improvement for the commerce sector
This agreement is in addition to the 8% increase that FAECyS previously agreed with the Argentine Chamber of Commerce (CAC), the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME) and the Union of Commercial Entities (Udeca), intended for commercial employees in general.
This improvement is also applied in two sections (4.25% in September and 3.75% in October), and represents an estimated basic salary of 926,000 pesos, depending on the category and presenteeism. This salary agreement is part of the joint agreements for the period from March 2024 to April 2025, based on Collective Labor Agreement 130/75.
Salary scales for commercial employees, according to category
Regarding salary scales, Basic salaries vary depending on the category and work area of the employees. The approximate values, with the 4.25% increase applied, are as follows:
- Maestranza: $825,911 to $836,679
- Administrative: $834,886 to $874,977
- ATMs: $837,877 to $847,452

- Special Auxiliaries: $845,059 to $855,830
- Sellers: $837,877 to $874,977
It should be noted that these figures are preliminary and could vary once the Ministry of Labor issues the official return.
It is important to highlight that these increases are not applicable in the City of Río Grande, in Tierra del Fuego, where specific salary agreements are signed due to the particularity of its labor market. Furthermore, these salary adjustments reflect the federations’ commitment to maintaining the purchasing power of workers, in an economic context that requires periodic updates.
Sector outlook
For FAECyS and FAEVYT, the salary increase is a way to strengthen the travel and tourism sector, incentivizing employees and offering better working conditions in an industry that continues to expand. According to union representatives, these measures reinforce the importance of maintaining a living wage that reflects the needs of the worker and the demands of a key industry in the current context.
