The Construction Workers Union of the Argentine Republicled by Gerardo Martínez, reached an agreement weeks ago with the business chambers of the sector, especially with the Argentine Chamber of Construction (CAMARCO), chaired by Gustavo Weiss, and the Argentine Federation of Construction Entities (FAEC), headed by Ricardo Andino.

This agreement, already approved by the Government, establishes significant conditions for workers in the sector covered by Collective Labor Agreement 545/08, complementing the previous increases granted in September and previous months.

Among the highlights of the agreement is an extraordinary non-remunerative bonus of 36.2%, to be paid in two equal installments during the months of October and November 2024. This bonus will be calculated based on the salaries of April 2024 and It will be subject to the usual contributions and contributions, such as social work, Labor Termination Fund and union dues.

Furthermore, this amount will be exempt from income tax, in accordance with Law 26,176, thus allowing the bonus to reach the employees in its entirety, without additional deductions in this regard.

Starting November 1, UOCRA workers who perform tasks at sites such as Vaca Muerta will receive a salary increase, along with a non-remunerative sum that will be gradually integrated into the basic salary in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the rest of the employees in the construction sector will receive their October salaries without additional adjustments, after the bimonthly increase of 9% corresponding to the months of August and September.

UOCRA Paritarias: Increase for November

According to the agreement reached between UOCRA, CAMARCO and FAEC, workers included in the Collective Labor Agreement (CCT) No. 545/08 and dedicated to works in deposits will receive an increase of 18.6%, applicable from September 2024 and retroactive. However, this adjustment takes April 2024 salaries as a reference, which reduces its impact in real terms.

Likewise, a non-remunerative sum was agreed for the months of September, October and November, based on salaries for April of this year:

  • September: 6% retroactive to be collected at the beginning of November.
  • October: 6% to be collected at the beginning of November.
  • November: 6% to be collected at the beginning of December.

This non-remunerative 6% will become remunerative in December 2024 (payable in January 2025), being integrated into the basic salary and affecting the calculation of other concepts such as SAC and vacations.

During a peer review in October, UOCRA agreed to a 36.2% non-remunerative bonus for construction workers at oil fields. This bonus, which responds to the economic situation and inflation for the April-August 2024 period, will be paid as follows:

  • October 2024: 18.1%, settled from November 1st.
  • November 2024: 18.1%, settled from December 1st.

This bonus will be based on April 2024 salaries, which will have a moderate impact on final income. With these adjustments, UOCRA workers in oil and gas fields will benefit from a significant increase in November thanks to the retroactive 18.6% increase, non-remunerative sums and the additional bonus.
