The apprenticeship as a tax assistant is varied, exciting and in demand
A good job is interesting, you work in an exciting environment, you get good training and you also have the opportunity to earn good money. Preferably in an area that deals with needs or necessities that people always have, regardless of whether the economy is doing well or we are in a crisis: money and taxes, for example. An apprenticeship and a job in the tax consultancy sector are therefore the best prerequisites for a successful future.
What jobs are there for a tax consultant or auditor and how is the training carried out – do you have to study?
There are numerous professions in this environment: tax assistant, payroll accountant, (balance sheet) accountant, tax consultant, auditor and many more. In order to be able to practice these, you do not always have to complete a degree.
The training to become a tax assistant is part of a 3-year apprenticeship. Depending on professional experience and courses, you can also do further training, for example as a payroll accountant or (balance sheet) accountant. With a degree you can become a tax consultant or auditor.
Where can you work as a tax assistant? you then work?
The apprenticeship training to become a tax assistant is done in the office of a tax consultant or auditor or in the financial administration after completing compulsory schooling. After completing the apprenticeship, all doors are open in a law firm, in public administration or in a company.
Is that exciting?
Oh yeah! Working for a tax consultant is an exciting, varied and exciting job. It has to do with numbers, of course, but these numbers represent companies and the people who work there.
Easy entry into a crisis-proof job
The apprenticeship “tax assistant” has only existed since 2011. It was developed jointly by the Chamber of Tax Advisors and Auditors and the Federal Ministry of Finance, as there is great demand in this area, both in the private sector and in the federal administration.
Entry into the teaching profession of tax assistant is open to anyone who has completed compulsory school, and is also possible after attending a secondary school such as AHS, HAS or HAK.
Since 2017, all apprentices in Upper Austria have been trained at the Rohrbach vocational school for 10 weeks per apprenticeship year. There are no costs for the apprentice to attend the vocational school or boarding school. KSW OÖ offers a free preparatory course for the written and oral final apprenticeship exam.
