After compensation to Edesur users, ENRE studies sanction to Edenor

The ENRE ruled yesterday that Edesur must pay an amount of $10,325 to users who were affected by prolonged and repeated service cuts on December 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31, 2021 and December 1, 2, 3 and January 4, 2022, which will represent a total estimated penalty of about $400 million.

The measure, taken through resolution 08/2022, establishes a maximum period of five days for the company to present the complete list of affected users, which will be subject to a subsequent analysis by the regulatory entity to verify the correct bonus application.

It does not require any paperwork and should be reflected in the bill for the next two months, as specified by the entity to the Télam news agency.

For his part, Cerruti also made reference to the sanctions that will be applied to the distributor Edenor.

“In the case of Edenor, the application of a fine is being studied and was put under study”, reported Cerruti, and specified that “the ENRE believes that a fine must be applied and, at this time, it is in an internal process to reach that definition.”

In this sense, last Tuesday, the ENRE filed charges against Edenor for not reporting the events that led to power cuts to 2.3 million users on January 11, 14 and 15.

Through resolution 7, the regulatory entity initiated an administrative summary and the formulation of charges against Edenor for “non-compliance with its obligations in matters of public security, in order to determine its responsibility in the face of possible sanctions”.

At the same time, the ENRE ordered the company to present the maintenance records of the easement strip and inspection reports; carry out and accredit the height measurements of drivers correcting the same for the climatic conditions and the load factor of the day and time of the event; and that proves the preventive measures that were carried out and would be carried out in the High Voltage Line in protection of the houses installed there.

After a technical analysis to determine the causes that led to the interruptions and the verification of compliance with the obligations and commitments assumed by the company, the ENRE “will issue the pertinent sanctions and measures.”

Edenor has, in accordance with the concession contract, a period of 10 days to discharge it.
