IG Metall is starting the new week with further warning strikes. This is intended to increase the pressure on employers to present a better offer for employees in the metal and electrical industries.
IG Metall wants to increase the pressure in the collective bargaining dispute in the metal and electrical industry with further warning strikes in several federal states. There will be temporary work stoppages in several companies in Bavaria on Monday. Actions are also planned in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
According to the union, the largest public rallies in Bavaria are at Linde in Aschaffenburg with eight companies and at MAN Energy Solutions in Augsburg with three companies.
In Saxony, the union has called on employees of the mechanical engineering companies Koenig & Bauer in Radebeul and Auma Drives in Coswig to go on warning strikes. A demonstration procession is planned, in which employees from other companies will join, an IG Metall spokesman said. Employees of the automotive supplier GKN Driveline and Radsystem GmbH in Zwickau as well as the compressor manufacturer Siemens Energy in Leipzig have also been called on a warning strike.
In Saxony-Anhalt, for example, employees of Thyssenkrupp in Schönebeck and employees of the foundry KSM Castings Group GmbH in Wernigerode were asked to take part. IG Metall said rallies were planned in front of the respective factory gates.
The union is demanding seven percent more wages for the 3.9 million employees nationwide with a contract term of one year. So far, after nine months of zero, employers are offering a tariff increase of 1.7 percent from July 2025 and a further 1.9 percent from July 2026, with a contract term of 27 months.
The peace obligation expired at the beginning of last week. Warning strikes are therefore possible at any time.
